Short Description of Activity

At out last Broadband meeting on September 21st we had speakers Diana Perez, who is running for Councilor position with the City of Vancouver, and is involved in many organizations, two of them League of United Latin American Citizens Council, a founder, and Southwest Washington Equity Coalition interim chair. The other speaker was Ed Hamilton Rosales of SW WA League of United Latin American Citizens, a 100 year old organization. Both spoke of their work, their community outreach, and the challenges being a person of color, a minority, making a difference in the community by promoting diversity awareness and education in a primarily white conservative area.

We are also starting a book group with our first meeting 10/24 reading Caste, The Origins of Our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson.

Another book group is being proposed by Emma at a later date to read the book Social Justice by Robin Diangelo.
