Key Issue: Public Lands Health & Protection
Activity Type: Relationship Building with non-white and/or frontline communities (relational meetings, attending events, community support, etc.)
Key Partners: Ute Mtn Ute, S. Ute, Northern Ute, Outdoor Afro, Hispanic Affairs Project
Short Description of Activity
Robyn continues to educate herself through virtual educational panels, advocacy events, celebrations and videos/reading; participation in Broads Equity and Justice Committee & Broads CARE Call planning; and outreach to marginalized, frontline communities listed in “Key Partners” above. Some outreach was related to the GMUG Forest plan revision but most was about building trusting relationships.
Reflection/Evaluation
Slow and steady progress. Continue to speak with one councilman from Ute Mountain Ute as well as Regina. Correspondence with two councilwomen and preservation staff at Southern Ute is less frequent. Only one email exchange with Cultural Preservation Officer at Northern Ute (Uintah & Ouray Reservation.) Attempted twice to talk by phone with Taisha Adams at Outdoor Afro and both times her schedule required cancellation. White Mesa virtual event was moving and informative; Indigenous Day of Mourning was powerful and very educational as were other online events.
