Short Description of Activity

Sandia Collaborative management committee meeting – 10-12-2021. -1 Hour – set agendas for next two general meetings.
Sandia Collaborative General meeting – 11-2-2021 – 2 hours; 11-23-2021 – 2-hours; Meetings both finished the last 4 team project presentations, including Tres Pistolas team project, of which I was the team leader.

Reflection/Evaluation

As note-taker and summarizer for both management and general Sandia Collaborative meetings, it was useful to hear all 6 of the project team presentations, and hear the questions and answers to the presentations. There were many questions about the Tres Pistolas project concerning any special use permits for the Wilderness section of the area for fire-wood gathering and plant collections. By law, firewood collecting is not allowed in wilderness areas like Tres Pistolas, even for indigenous communities, according to the District Ranger. It was revealing how important it is for the indigenous community members to participate in the collaborative in order for them to get their issues addressed. The times for both types of meetings include at least 3-4 hours each of taking notes, writing summaries, and incorporating edits from the management team for each meeting.
