Short Description of Activity

Monthly Water Sentinels to measure waterflow and sediment levels on the Upper Verde River at Perkinsville, Bear Siding, and Verde Springs. Jenny Cobb, Rabbi Adele, and Russ Pilcher participating.

Reflection/Evaluation

We found a campfire ring and trash near the road at Perkinsville. We picked up trash there, in the other parking area, and under the bridge. The closed area upstream to our measuring site was trash free. waterflow was 14.8 cfs. At Bear siding waterflow was 14.7 which is interesting because it is usually slightly higher than Perkinsville. Adele picked up trash. Russ and Jenny cross Granite Creek which was running clear and deep in the meadow and hiked to the confluence with the Verde River – the first time the Creek has met the River in a very long time. Stillman Lake was full of water after being dry for months. We could not find a spot to measure waterflow. – the only flowing spot was not deep enough. There were the same two huge ponds which were over 5 feet deep. Photos available on Jenny’s Facebook page.
