Reflection/Evaluation

7 members of Cascade Volcanoes joined Lower Columbia Estuary in a tree planting at Steigerwald National Wildlife Refuge. The tree planting was part of an effort to establish refugia for salmon fry on their way to the ocean. The project will also improve habitat for birds and add an additional mile of walking trail for visitors. We noted 3 bicyclists on the dike trail. They apparently did not read the “Closed” sign at both ends of the trail. The wildlife refuge is scheduled to open again in May 2022 after the project is aimed for completion. We will be scheduling a hike at that time for our BB.
