Short Description of Activity
This was a stewardship project at Hidden Glen Park in Battle Ground to restore riparian habitat.
Reflection/Evaluation
The goal of the activity was to engage the public on a habitat restoration project along Woodin Creek. A variety of native plants were planted which included black hawthorn, red elderberry, Indian plum, snowberry, Oregon Ash, swamp rose and Pacific ninebark. The goal was to shade the creek and slow down the stream flow to reduce the temperature of the stream. Great engagement activity and it was noted that Laurie took the opportunity to shout out about the Broads, having done many other restoration projects. Laurie was interviewed by the local newspaper, The Columbian. Here is the link to the article on 2/27/21:https://www.columbian.com/news/2022/feb/26/volunteers-dig-in-at-hidden-gem/ or https://clbn.us/ThyFz A great event and I hope to get some more involvement by Broads for the next event in March. I also sent out an email asking for a Broads-only event with the LCE so we will wait and see what happens.
