Activity Type: Advocacy (rallies, lobbying, meeting decision makers, letters/calls/emails)
Landscape/area: Prescott National Forest (1257005 acres)
Short Description of Activity
First call today of climate change and the old growth forest advocates. Goal is to protect old-growth trees through rule making.
Reflection/Evaluation
42 people attending the ZOOM call – many introduced themselves and what they are doing to address this issue. Yavapai-Prescott Broadband commented: we have two landscape restoration projects approved to tear down half of the pinyon-juniper in the PNF. Also, mentioned 4FRI – said project logging trees and harvesting biomass to fund the project – in the name of fire suppression. There were a lot of ideas tossed about in how to petition the Biden Administration to protect old-growth trees. Note, logging releases more carbon than any other activity.
