Short Description of Activity

Planning for the April 24 Wilderness Ambassador Training

Reflection/Evaluation

Barb and I participated in the planning call for the April 24 Wilderness Ambassador Training. The TKO sends out groups of volunteers in pairs to hike the trails and educate the public about Leave No Trace Principles. There have been two calls so far. The extremely long winded TKO male volunteers shared their past experiences with the training program. They envisioned a program whereby they would stand up and show power point presentations and have the participants listen to their long winded stories and experiences. Barb and myself envisioned a training program whereby the participants would be responsible for their own learning and be highly engaged with one another as well as the trainers. This will take some time to iron out but we are making progress. One volunteer even stated, “I like what Laurie is saying”. We have a few more calls to get the program completed. Hopefully, we can come to some mutual agreements about the training.
