Mt Garfield Middle School Ute Heritage Day =30 8th grade students listened to Betsey Chapoose (from the Uinta and Ouray Ute tribe) speak about Ute culture and beliefs, did an activity demonstrating the interconnection of plants, insects, and animals found in this region, and an activity designed to demonstrate how archaeologist work with artifacts. In the afternoon the students worked on different clean up projects. = 8 hours
Reflection/Evaluation
Tabling (which we haven’t done for 2 years) was fun. We had a good number of people who stopped to ask questions, mostly women, but a few men. It was interesting that their ages ranged from about 20 to 80.
The Ute Heritage day was very good. Activities seemed to really engage the students and they work diligently on clean up tasks.
