Short Description of Activity
This activity was an entire day of raking, digging, planting, and cleaning up degraded areas in the Blue Diamond riparian area called the Lower Cottonwood Spring.
Fifty Milkweed seeds were planted. Last year’s plot was cleaned up and watered.
Five Bulrush plants were established along the stream bed.
A very large area was raked and readied for the next planting event.
Reflection/Evaluation
We worked hard from 9-5 with a break for lunch. The changes are incremental for the amount of work done. The degraded areas need so much attention. Lots more to do!
Preparation work included making plant identification signs.
Milkweed seeds had to be separated and placed in a very small piece of wet paper towel before planting. Fingers crossed on their germination!
