Short Description of Activity
We were invited to table by Save our Foothills, a grassroots organization in SLC. We gave out Broadsides and GOB flyers out and spoke with several people. Nine people signed up for our mailing list and we also gave out information about Enviro Fest. We made the following contacts:
Gavin Noyes, who used to work for Save Our Canyons and Utah Dine Bikeyah is working for Conservation Lands Foundation these days. His 12yo daughter was selling lemonade and a Bears Ears activity book for kids to help raise money. Gavin thought it would be great for GOB to set up some events so that young people could meet the older generation of activists. gvin@conservationlands.org; 801-521-7398
Clean the Darn Air https://www.cleanthedarnair.org/ is working on gathering signatures for a ballot initiative in 2024. Last time they tried they did not gather enough signatures. They wonder if GOB is able to help gather signatures.
Reflection/Evaluation
Our goal in participating was to let the SLC public know more about GOB and having newsletters (old and new issues that covered various topics) was very useful. In that we were successful but I don’t have hard numbers about how many people stopped at our both. The other success was getting three broads from the SLC are to volunteer for this event; a first since we brought the broadband back to life five years ago! Baby steps. Amy Brunvard, Janet Mueller and Kathy Turner helped out.
