Short Description of Activity
I joined the TKO LGBTQ+ for a day of trail building and restoration at Scouters Mountain, an area that was once owned by the Portland Boy Scouts and sold out to developers, but the county stepped in and preserved a large section of it as a nature refuge.
Reflection/Evaluation
I had spent many times at Scouter’s Mountain with Scouting programs and trainings and was heartbroken when the Scouts sold off this pristine property that offered youth wonderful outdoor experiences. I was pleased to later learn that a large portion of it was purchased by the county to keep at a nature reserve. Here was an opportunity to revisit and help in the preservation of this wonderful property.
