Key Issue: Landscape Planning (Forest Plans, RMPs, TMPs, etc.)
Activity Type: Stewardship (monitoring, sampling, planting, etc.)
Key Partners: Colorado Natural Heritage Program, CSU
Landscape/area: BLM CO – Uncompahgre Field Office
Measurable Outcomes
Outcome 1: Trail/land monitored (6 sites/plots)
Short Description of Activity
Many records of rare plants in Ouray and Montrose counties are outdated (more that 20 years old and considered “historical” by CNHP). Broads are visiting these locations and updating records so that public lands managers can make decisions based on “the best available science”.
Reflection/Evaluation
Ten members were trained in the protocol for updating records. This will be an ongoing project. So far, 11 sites have been visited, to update records of 11 species. Although our goals were accomplished, we were dismayed to find that due to prolonged drought many species are no longer present.
