Short Description of Activity

Webinar on new perspectives on old growth in the Tongass

Reflection/Evaluation

Push to do the old growth forest inventory that is mandated by Executive Order. Tongass represents 20% of all carbon in all national forests. Mature forests as lots of biodiversity. Need inventory to lead to a national rulemaking re conservation of old growth/mature growth forests. Globally we are loosing 18 soccer fields of forests every minute of every day, mostly in the tropics. Formal action on the Roadless Rule as applies to the Tongass is expected in November
