Key Partners: GYWA, GWA
Landscape/area: Gallatin National Forest (1849701 acres)
Short Description of Activity
Emailed to Katya: It is very busy here in Montana, the election is heating up. We are working hard to message for wilderness, wilderness study areas, wildlife, habitat, connectivity, effects of climate change and the lack of government action to address it. There is something every day. Today I am messaging candidates about what Montanans want. The numbers are clear, now to get them out so they know.
Montana has many collaborative groups, mostly big NGOs with financial backing that do not help conservation. The groups that opposed us in our wilderness alternative for the Custer Gallatin Forest plan are listed at the end along with their misleading poll question.
Reflection/Evaluation
Linda, Nancy O and myself are board members and members of Gallatin Wildlife and Gallatin Yellowstone Wilderness and as such are very involved and committed to those positions, which take an enormous amount of time which involves writing comments, writing objections both of which take lots of research. But we feel that all three groups realize the important goal is to protect Wilderness, keep Wilderness Study Areas and Important Roadless Areas of Wilderness Quality.
