Short Description of Activity
Loren and Kathy submitted comments on BLM Scoping for 17(b). The lifting of the withdrawals could have significant impact on subsistence, mining, and land use in Alaska. There are also climate change implications that need to be considered.
Reflection/Evaluation
This one was a bit. of sleeper, as not too many people really understood what was being considered. Thankfully this was the public scoping phase so additional comment periods should be available as the proposal is considered through an EIS. This one should be monitored, so they BLM does not attempt to downplay the analysis to an EA or a CatEx.
