Key Issue: Doesn’t apply
Activity Type: Stewardship (monitoring, sampling, planting, etc.)
Key Partners: Capitol Land Trust
Short Description of Activity
Scotch broom pull with Capitol Land Trust volunteers at Darlin Creek Preserve. I signed up for this activity to 1) interact with CLT at the one property I know of that has beaver dams within it; 2) explore partnership opportunities and/or beaver “issues” in my county; 3) help out with stewarding an important nature preserve in our Olympia area.
Reflection/Evaluation
1) Terrific fun working with the 8-9 volunteers and CLT staff; 2) no larger partnership opportunities seen at this time since no one at CLT is aware of beaver status in our county or is studying beaver behavior on their preserves; 3) pulled a lot of Scotch broom and cleared several areas of any visible broom.
