Landscape/area: Cimarron National Grassland (108176 acres)
Short Description of Activity
14 miles hiked; only one sighting of BH along highway 550!! Total of 6 days of surveying
Surveying done by Robyn Cascade
Jeep drop off at Engineering pass. Then backpacked.
Reflection/Evaluation
Sadly, persistent lightning across the high alpine landscape on my planned 8 day backpack from Engineer Pass to Bear Creek to American Flats to Dexter Creek (by way of Difficulty Creek) dictated that I shorten this surveying trip which was particularly disappointing due to having hired the jeep operator to transport me. I did observe for many hours during three days in the Bear Creek watershed, though I did not sight any bighorn or domestic sheep. Thankfully, I was able to survey for botanical species on my way out of the high country.

Here Robyn Cascade is getting ready to head into S. Bear Creek at the top of Engineer Pass after being dropped off by the jeep operator! Backpack full of supplies for 8 days (though sadly only stayed out for three due to lightning)
