Short Description of Activity
First Friday Arts Festival is a monthly street event in downtown Las Vegas. Although it was 105 F and super loud with electronic music, Craig and Cicco and I managed to get a decent number of people informed about the Avi Kwa Ame bus ride later in September, and even a few sign up. Water bottles were $3 a piece, but Schmirnoff’s Vodka gave away free shots! We felt this demonstrated the urgent need for water conservation in the Southwest! 🙂
Reflection/Evaluation
We learned that the best part about being in downtown Las Vegas during a street festival, when it’s obnoxiously hot, is all the fantastic people watching! Sadly, many of these city dwellers have full-blown Nature Deficit Disorder and do not know where Red Rock Canyon is, and have no clue about Avi Kwa Ame. Hopefully, we edified a few who will tell their friends and neighbors!
