Short Description of Activity
A presentation by the Sierra Club on the proposal to add acreage back into the Sarvis Creek Wilderness.
A portion of the original wilderness was left out because of plans to build the Catamount Ski Area which never came to pass. This rugged and diverse area south of the west summit of Rabbit Ears pass should be put back under wilderness protection. NWCO Broads have participated and are partnering with others on this effort. To date, neighboring property owners have signed off on the proposal. there are hopes we can get this area added to the CORE Act.
Reflection/Evaluation
Getting Wilderness designation is a long term process, but hopes are high that the current partnership can move this along. Happy to have he local chapter of the Sierra Club on board, as they have more resources than NWCO Broads.
