Short Description of Activity
Judith Lopez did preparation work on 12/18 and thenon 12/27/22 sampled the Uncompahgre River at her assigned site in Confluence Park. She was accompanied for training purposes by Broad Wayne Quade who recently attended River Watch training in Cedaredge. We collected samples for metals analysis by the lab in Denver. Every fifth sampling, we collect duplicates and blank samples as well as normal ones, filtered and unfiltered, which was due this time. We also collected sample for determining oxygenation, pH, alkalinity, and hardness. We worked together on the protocols. The data has been submitted on 12/28/22 on line to RW but the metal samples will be held until next month for mailing.
Reflection/Evaluation
There were two over all goals met 1) to conduct the sampling and protocols to continue to provide consistent data to River Watch and CPW about the health and status of the river and 2) to continue to prepare Wayne Quade with experience to help him decide where and how best to use his new skills to contribute to river monitoring. Wayne is set to accompany me again in January. As he is interested in involving Boy Scouts in monitoring, I advised him to see about going out with high school teachers who are working with students and will also see if I can help him to make these connections.
