Activity Type: Advocacy (rallies, lobbying, meeting decision makers, letters/calls/emails)
Key Partners: Montana Department of Fish Wildlife and Parks
Measurable Outcomes
Outcome 1: Advocacy actions (20 people)
Short Description of Activity
We offered a bus ride from Missoula to Helena and a carpool from Bozeman to Helena to testify before the FWP Commission which was deciding how many wolves to destroy on the northern boundary of Yellowstone National Park. The Montana Legislature has passed a law reducing wolf populations by many barbaric means (baiting, snaring, etc.) and we got press coverage by testifying before the Commission.
Reflection/Evaluation
We asked for a quota of zero wolves to be killed in Wolf Management Area 313, but they only reduced a proposed quota of ten, down to six wolves. Lawsuits are being prepared by supporters of our groups.
