Short Description of Activity
Read decisions about both the proposed Pebble Mine, the proposed Willow Oil and Gas Development project, and the proposed Ambler Mining District Access Road, read information about elected representatives stands etc. I emailed our Senators and our Administration about following the Corps of Engineers and DOE recommendations regarding restrictions on mining in the Bristol Bay area; we signed off on a letter of comments initiated by Earthjustice regarding the proposed Willow project, which we had already personally commented on.
Reflection/Evaluation
Just trying to keep up with where the projects are at and who is behind what. I was sad to see that our new Congresswoman Mary Peltola (D- AK) gave lip service to both the Ambler Project and the Willow Project during her campaigning. We are hopeful that she will back off on both projects now that she has been elected, but are not sure as she was formerly employed by the Donlin Mine. We also signed off on a letter with Earthjustice regarding the Willow project (a copy of the letter was enclosed in an activity report filed by Kathy O’Reilly-Doyle)
