Short Description of Activity
Water Sentinels measuring waterflow and sediment levels at Perkinsville, Bear Siding, and Verde Springs on the Upper Verde River. For great photographs, see my Facebook page.
Reflection/Evaluation
Nice sunny day. River wider, deeper and more overgrown after monsoon rains. Tom has the data and hasn’t calculated results yet but looked like 25+ cfs at Perkinsville – in May and June it was 8.6. All the rain has filled the river for a while. We had to measure at a wider spot at Bear Siding because our usual spot was swift, deep, and nowhere to stand for 4 of us. At Verde Springs Granite Creek met the river for the first time in a year and we climbed through debris walking downstream to find waterflow to measure. Two of us took a quick dip in the swimming hole at Bear Siding – the bottom was mucky.
