Reflection/Evaluation

Following the film was a panel discussion about the film. Here are the comments from our own Roseanne Hudson: “The main point that resonated for me is that loss of property due to wildfire is not a forest management problem. It is a problem of neglecting (or not knowing, or not having the resources) to remove combustible material near structures. As long as it is viewed as a forest problem, someone else is responsible. This film puts the responsibility on communities and residents to protect what they don’t want burned.

It touched on a number of areas that could be documentaries on their own, e.g.prescribed burns, indigenous culture related to fire, science and research, community preparedness, the role of Old Growth forests, and the politics of logging. to name a few.

Great film! I highly recommend it.”

Another screening is planned for Feb 16 at Lewis and Clark College. I will plan on sending out the info to my chapter when I get it.
