Short Description of Activity
“Monument Stewards” is a volunteer group who works to introduce and maintain native plant species along the “Lunch Loop” bike trail near the east entrance to Colorado National Monument (NPS) and on BLM lands. This group had gathered native plant seeds last autumn, and today, we cleaned the seeds to prepare to plant them in pots. Various native species included Four-wing saltbush, gummed, yarrow and others. Broads has been active with the Stewards; today, four Broads attended.
Reflection/Evaluation
We all met at the City of Grand Junction’s greenhouse. The agreement with Colorado West Land Trust is that the City will care for the seedlings; in autumn, we will all plant along the mountain bike trail. YES, objectives met.
