Short Description of Activity
On February 27, four members met with the range conservationist for the
Glenwood Ranger District to see two news areas which he prioritizes for
monitoring. The group went to Vigil Springs, walking both in and outside of the
exclosure, and learning the difference between a water land and a water gap. No
fresh cattle sign was found in the exclosure.
The group then headed to the Upper Saliz Creek exclosure north of Saliz Pass and
learned how to access it from the southern end via Cottonwood Campground, and
the northern end via a pull-off about a half mile from Cottonwood. The day ended
with a brief Q and A at the Glenwood Ranger Station.
Reflection/Evaluation
It was very positive to build relationship with the Glenwood Ranger District since we had much successful communication with them in the past. It was also good to learn of 2 new areas that we had not monitored before.
