Key Partners: BLM
Landscape/area: Adobe Badlands WSA (10425 acres)
Measurable Outcomes
Outcome 1: Clean-up (1 )
Outcome 2: Trail/land monitored (1 )
Short Description of Activity
Monitored and cleaned up three spots, the main parking lot, a road to the south on the WSA, and another parking area further north on Devil’s Thumb. I removed a couple paper sacks of mostly shell casings, broken glass as well as beer bottles and cans. I confirmed that the cable installed by BLM remained to prevent motorized vehicles from descending to the dunes from the main parking lot. However I also discovered at the area further north that was an informal parking area appears to be the main entrance now for motorized vehicles to enter the WSA. I land. I notified Tatyana Sukharnikova, BLM Outdoor Recreation Planner, and completed a BLM monitoring form for her.
Reflection/Evaluation
The goal is to monitor the WSA and now to inform BLM of the status and to clean up trash that has been left there. This is being met on a regular basis.
