Short Description of Activity
Our broadband borderlands team met for the 4th time via Zoom. Meeting was aptly facilitated by broadband member Starr Belski. Sally Sharp set up the Zoom meeting and also participated with important input. For now we will wait with sending letters to our U.S. Congress members regarding reinstating NEPA for border infrastructure until the timing is optimal. Starr passed along info she has gained from speaking with Myles Traphagen, including the story map and remediation priorities.
Reflection/Evaluation
Productive meeting and our group is focusing in on what we can effectively do particularly within the El Paso sector and southeastern AZ. For instance, our role currently could be to advocate for keeping a border wall from being constructed where only small vehicle barrier fencing exists in portions of the NM bootheel. Our focus could also be to support effective wildlife passages through the wall where more infrastructure does exist, and advocating for effective wildlife corridors by contacting our US Congress members.
