Short Description of Activity
This was an excellent workshop sponsored by Citizens Climate Lobby, Skagit County Washington, presented by Brian Stewart who started his own non-profit Electrify Now, providing tools to implement alternative home energy sources (to gas and coal) to save money and mitigate climate change. He states we are already moving to all-electric new home construction; over time will replace fossil fuel-based systems in existing homes; and how the Inflation Reduction Act can help us with the transition.
Brian has over 30 years of experience in product design, manufacturing, innovation and sustainability. He began his career as an industrial designer at IDEO, and has held various senior leadership roles in footwear and apparel product creation at NIKE Inc., including Vice President of Sustainable Innovation where he directed projects and created tools to deliver on corporate sustainability goals.
Reflection/Evaluation
For an hour of my time, it was well worth it. He was articulate, and gave practical solutions to implementing change-even baby steps. for example, if you purchased a gas stove a couple years ago, how can you transition to electric? There’s a one burner convection burner you can buy to begin the transition. He inspires me to watch parts one and two, as this was part 3 of series. There is a member of our broadband very involved in local county planning to mitigate climate change who frequently asks us to participate in advocacy. Now I have better understanding.
