Short Description of Activity
For many years the network has attempted to get a Natural Resources committee hearing in the Arizona State Legislature for their ecological water bill, which would allow surface and ground water to have a right to exist as a user under Arizona Water Law. The chairman of this committee has singlehandedly stopped a hearing on this bill. Due to these bad politics, this was the first meeting to explore what could get passed, for all or part of Arizona and in what form, including the possibility of a citizens initiative on the ballot.
Reflection/Evaluation
We have a long way to go. There were some interesting discussions on the attempt to influence water policies at a smaller local and county level.
