Short Description of Activity
Tour the Crestmont land trust property in Benton county; designated by a single land owner to preserve and conserve natural habitat for about 1500 acres. The landowner has conserved special habitat for two endangered species of butterfly–checker spot and fenders blue with success; he practices sustainable forestry methods to harvest timber and rotational grazing for cattle.
Reflection/Evaluation
The field trip was extremely popular and attracted some newer people to participate. The owner, Ed, walked around the property with us and gave a short educational session in a winery that was close by. The goal was education and it was accomplished with a debrief of just participants to talk about how his goals align with ours. Membership development was also accomplished by engaging new members who are inspired to participate.
