Hike to the Pittock Mansion in Portland to view contemporary Indigenous artwork by local tribes accompanied by historical timeline of their homeland history in the Willamette area.
Reflection/Evaluation
It was a perfect day with sunshine and good temps. The trail was a moderate plus level and the group was mindful of each other with a respectful pace. The vegetation was lush with thick cover of trilliums along gthe way. Lunch was spent at the overlook of Portland and Mt Hood.
The Art along with the historical explanations was very interesting. The individual bios of the artists, what tribes they are affiliated with, what their art symbolized and how they came about their artistic expression I found the most interesting.
It was a hike with a little extra. Being a local hike enabled good participation for the Broads.
