Reflection/Evaluation
I attended all of the meetings, but didn’t have much of anything to say. When I asked about restoration techniques in the Q and A or the Chat, my questions and comments were not addressed. It was obvious that restoration was not an option for the group, and, given what I have seen of the state of Oregon forests and “restoration” projects, their position is understandable. However, given how departed the forests in NM are from historic conditions due to grazing and total supression, I do feel that thinning and controlled burns has to be an option. Fire coming through NM forests does not allow for regrowth like the much wetter forests in much of Oregon and Washington would. No one on the webinar seemed to have heard of a CFLRP or CFRP’s. So I didn’t feel like signing on to any of their actions.
