Short Description of Activity
This meeting of our broadband borderlands committee focused entirely on comments regarding the proposed remediation of damage and unsafe conditions caused by construction of the “pedestrian barriers” along the New Mexico-El Paso/Mexico border wall. Our comments focused primarily on environmental impacts ranging from lighting to soil surface remediation or gaps, gates & wildlife corridors, with relevant studies, etc. cited. (See attached comments.) GOBW staff reviewed & augmented this process for us and this was very helpful.
Reflection/Evaluation
It went very well and was a good team effort. Our broadband borderlands committee leader was instrumental in writing this and did an excellent and impressive job. (Unfortunately we will have to revisit how often we meet and how to proceed from here given our committee leader will need a hiatus.)
