Short Description of Activity

Linda Folkestad and Ihiked to Indian Racetrack trail in Indian Heaven Wilderness to monitor solitude.

Reflection/Evaluation

Very interesting history at Indian racetrack by Indigenous tribes. The Indigenous Tribes actually held horse races on this site and you can see the dirt radcetrack around the meadow. I felt that we were intruding on their ancestral lands in hiking through there. Lots of huckleberry bushes but no huckleberries yet. Lots of glacier/avalanche lillies and mostly, just mosquitoes. No people or evidence of them. No smoke from the distant fire was noted. Clear blue sky and lots of solitude!

The traffic going over the I205 bridge was so bad that Laurie did not get home till 7:30pm. Next time, Linda will meet me on the Washington side and she will drive the opposite direction of traffic. That will save us much time. We had a great time and we stopped for pizza on the way home.
