Short Description of Activity
Laurie, Barb Mickey, Nancy S, Susan, Linda B, Linda F, Bondi, all attended the solitude monitoring4 training at Trout Lake Mt Adams Ranger dist..
Reflection/Evaluation
The goal of the activity was to determine the trails we were to monitor and go over the monitoring protocols as well as learn to use the maps and Spot devices. Susan was very knowledgeable about the trails and was able to describe their difficulty. Tyson Cross, our FS ranger was there but was new to the district and had not yet established his monitoring protocol. However, he did send me the info a week later and I sent it out. Most of the group was able to download the Avenza map, and some were still learning to use the app. Tyson handed out 5 S(POT and/or Inreach devices for us to use, as well. This was most appreciated. I sent for the Green Trails maps of Indian Heaven @Wilderness, but Amazon sent me the wrong maps. UGH!!
We carpooled out to the ranger station and it was a great day. The snacks were also appreciated; however it was too bad that more people were not able to attend on that day.
