Key Issue: Wilderness & Monument Designation/Protection
Activity Type: Stewardship (monitoring, sampling, planting, etc.)
Key Partners: Poudre Wilderness Volunteers PWV
Landscape/area: Neota Wilderness (9927 acres)
Measurable Outcomes
Outcome 1: Trail/land monitored (7 sites/plots)
Outcome 2: Hiked (4 miles)
Short Description of Activity
We hiked through forest to a small lake north of Corral Creek, then back down to Corral Park and west to look for several sites. Two were high on hillsides and we did not feel it was likely there were campsites there. One required a steep hike up and over several large down trees. We did find a couple of “new” old campsites with fire rings.
Reflection/Evaluation
Karen Artell knows the area well. Trails in this area are faint and can be hard to follow. We saw only one small group of people. Drive to the area is 2 hours each way. We did accomplish our goal for the day. We are assisting with finishing campsite monitoring for the Wilderness Character monitoring for the Neota Wilderness.
