Short Description of Activity
Met with forest advocate from Center for Responsible Forestry at a local WA State Legacy Forest where a timber sale was stopped by public outcry. We as a chapter are advocating for these forests that contain older second growth forests (up to 100 yrs) as the state owns them and sells off timber to fund schools, fire departments and other public services. We are currently responding with postcards and online response to try and stop these timber sales. We also received a briefing by the forest advocate around the issues and a brief lesson in measuring these trees.
Reflection/Evaluation
I think everyone that attended the event learned more about the issue and enjoyed a walk in a older forest as well.
