Short Description of Activity
NSJBB has been instrumental in pulling together a band of likeminded conservation representative who continue to urge CPW State Trails program to keep the needs of wildlife in strong focus, and not allow recreation needs (really “wants”) to overwhelm the development of more and more trails in the state. We have concentrated on pushing for better attention to wildlife through the State Trails non-motorized grant program and their yearly grant application process. The group has met through Zoom and email threads. Sallie Thoreson provided oral comments to the State Trails Commission in June.
Reflection/Evaluation
We think we are moving the needle on consideration of wildlife and landscapes attention during this recent push to develop more and more recreational trails. The latest State Trails grant application is better than past versions. We will continue to stay engaged and would like to bring other Colorado BB into reviewing grants and advocacy.
