Short Description of Activity
Kathy and Loren had a conference call with Lisa Pool to discuss the future of Broads, staffing issues, and their concerns about these things. We were very concerned that recently three of the longer term Broads’ staff have left, people we have worked well with in the past and whose visions and leadership we had admired, as well as having appreciated their sense of camaraderie and their sense of humor to keep this often soul wrenching battle hopeful and doable!
Reflection/Evaluation
Lisa said that the Broads was strong and that the new leadership had many strengths and good vision. We discussed our possible fears about the future as well as our hopes. She assuaged most of our fears. One remaining fear is that the Great Old Broads might become a “top down” organization that might overpower the grassroots leadership we now have. We want to remain assured that we will be able to pick our advocacy battles and other activities under the umbrella of the Broads stated goals of public land and wilderness advocacy and making public lands part of the solution to climate change. WE also lamented Lisa’s departure while wishing her the best of luck in her future pursuits. Kathy and Loren had a call between themselves after the conference call.
