Good webinar. Some of the figures given showed the advances our country has made in increasing protection for public lands, but the fact that 90% of BLM lands are open for Oil and gas development and other resource extraction is concerning when put against the goal of protecting 30% of national lands. And the goal of limiting temperature change to 1.5 degree C by 2030 requires a 45% reduction in CO2, and our present trajectory does not seem to make that very hopeful. However it was pointed out that the BLM proposed rule making changes can be seen as a parading shift, putting conservation on an equal footing with other uses. This would be a BIG change.
