Short Description of Activity
We attended the Alaska State Fair on AARP day, figuring it would be ‘our people’. We wore our Broad’s tees and sweatshirts and carried Broads’ bags with pamphlets etc to distribute.
Reflection/Evaluation
It poured, so setting up material without a tent was not possible. WE did go in and discuss who and what Broads was with people at a number of booths including the Bad girls of the North. We then went to the booth with Sen. Murkowski’s staff and discussed some of our advocacy issues and met some of her staff. We thanks them for the Senator’s work on ending the Pebble Mine but also discussed our deep disappointment that at this time they were behind projects such as the Willow oil and gas development project for the sold reason of jobs. We also went to the Teachers Union booth and talked about Broads and Alaska Soles. Despite the lousy weather we met lots of people and exchanged many smiles and laughs.
