Short Description of Activity

“Letters and Lagers” event at Heathen Brewery and public hearing in Kalama wa.

Reflection/Evaluation

Micky and I attended the “Lagers and Letters” event at Heathen BRrewery in Vancouver,Wa. We listened to the campaign issues for designating the Green River as Outstanding Resource Waters tier III which is the highest level of protection for preserving the Green River for the fish, clean drinking water, recreation, and tribal resources. Both Micky and I submitted written comments at the event. I also attended the hearing hosted by the Washington Dept of Ecology on 9/12 and submitted oral comments at the in-person hearing. There were only two of us that commented at the hearing. The Weyerhaeuser timber company was represented; although they were vastly outnumbered and did not testfy orally at the hearing. It appeared that the public comment period was just a rubber stamp and that the DOE was in support of the designation 100%. The final decision is Dec 15, 2023 and will go into effect within 30 days. They were very appreciative of my testifying. It was very casual with no opposition stated.
