The Bi-Monthly meeting of the Routt Recreation and Conservation Roundtable. Updates from area public lands agencies including the USFS Mad Rabbit Mountain Bike Trail proposal final EA and FONSI. The Dry Lake Campground expansion, a proposal to revive and build the Stagecoach Ski Area and additional permits for OHV’s and Snowmobile permits in North Routt. Routt County Commissioner advocated for public lands agencies to begin considering cumulative impacts on our public lands
Reflection/Evaluation
This was my last RRCR meeting as the Quiet Use Representative. I have recommended Leslie Lovejoy, a longtime advocate for Quiet Use and Conservation in Routt County and a member of Great Old Broads for Wilderness. Two other members will continue as representatives on the Roundtable.
NWCO Broads has been advocating against the Mad Rabbit Mountain Bike Trail Proposal since 2018 and while the trails proposal has been parred back, the impacts on roadless areas and wildlife habitat is significant. We and other groups in Routt County are dismayed with the FONSI and have sent letters of objections. Many including ourselves and the Routt County Commissioners, have called for an EIS for this project and a look at the cumulative impacts. DNR has filed a lawsuit for the same reason!
