Short Description of Activity
One of our Broadband’s key Borderlands Committee members was interviewed on our local radio station (Gila Mimbres Community Radio / KURU) regarding border wall environmental impacts and issues. Starr spoke in detail on our comment letter addressing the El Paso sector wall remediation proposal, and their response to our letter. At the same time she spoke on environmental impacts of the wall in general. She also summarized the history of the Real ID Act / waivers and the current Congressional fiscal year budget proposal(s) and how the wall issue might become part of that debate.
Reflection/Evaluation
It was a good interview. Our member is well informed regarding environmental border wall issues while researching/ analyzing information from various sources and drawing on her knowledge of some of the environmental impacts. She presents the information in a thoughtful, objective way. She also talks about the advocacy and stewardship of GOBW, including Broadbands, regarding this issue.
