Reflection/Evaluation

Everyone reported enjoying this read about a local woman who made major impacts in our familiar areas of Mt St Helens, Portland Oregon, Eugene Oakridge and Bakers City. Her journey started out as an agency transcriber in Washington DC to being the first African American female to run a national Forest Service in US history. She was inspirational in reaching out to locals and mediating between FS personal, lumber companies and environmentalist with positive and energetic tenacious work ethic that resulted in people looking beyond gender and race and only to what was the goal to be accomplished.
This book was picked out to be read by the Equity and Justice committee as part of racial awareness in the environmental field.
