Short Description of Activity
On Nov. 7 we held a Zoom session with Myles Traphagen (Wildlands Network) and our broadband borderlands committee, facilitated by Sally Sharp. Myles outlined a relevant monitoring opportunity in southern NM focusing on several wildlife gates, particularly relevant to the Mexican wolf. He also provided informative background information, followed by the opportunity for our questions. After discussion, our borderlands committee decided to try taking this on, provided we figure out several logistical questions. In addition, we subsequently discussed follow-up issues with Sally Sharp on Nov. 17.
Reflection/Evaluation
It went well, and we are in the process of scheduling a winter monitoring trip in January or February 2024. In order to do this, we will need to contact Myles Traphagen once more concerning some questions we have. There appears to be much interest by some of our group to engage in this relevant and timely monitoring. This should be a good match for our borderlands committee and we look forward to this fieldwork, in addition to our advocacy on this issue.
