Short Description of Activity

4Corners Broadband Group Commenting Breakfast on December 4th gathered up Shelby, Jennifer, and Lisa to look over resources and write our group comment letter to Lucas West Environmental Protection Specialist at CO Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety-other members signed on including Valerie and Jan. I wrote a Call to Action email and 4 more members and contacts made individual comments. Sally helped me make a petition and I collected 39 signatures at the Community Involvement Expo to be given to San Miguel County Commissioners to ask them to deny the Special Use permit to drill.

Reflection/Evaluation

I’m sure our efforts made a difference as we commented alongside Sierra Club and Sheep Mountain Alliance and had more individual commenters than any other group- though they listed our group as GOBW. I learned alot about direct action from all of our partners. I’m thinking about reaching out to the Ute Mountain Ute Environmental Center to partner up with them so that White Mesa Mill never sees any more uranium from Disappointment Valley.
