Short Description of Activity
We are building a group of young people across CO to help introduce and pass a CO Green Amendment to help end the climate crisis. We are inspired by the Montana young people that sued because they want Montana to live up to their Green Amendment and mitigate the climate change effects they are already living with. At SWOS I’m starting a How to be a Climate Activist project when the STEM lab opens in January. I discovered the Soutwest CO ED Collaborative and met with Mark Schenberger who is now looking to include SWOS ino their Environmental Pathway which opens SWOS to new funded projects which we can design together. Three Zoom meetings with Maya and Wendy and the other two teachers shows that we are gaining momentum and activists of every age.
Reflection/Evaluation
Next steps are to get a CO website going by donation or by in kind tech help. The meeting with Mark was very productive. He liked all of our ideas and if he can get SWOS included in the collaborative, we’ll have lots of new climate change projects to work on at SWOS, including Green Amendment.
